Why Your Business Needs a Custom Mobile App

If you have a business, from a small one to a major corporation, it’s time to contact a mobile app developer and create a custom mobile enterprise app for your business. So, why is this so important? To make a long story short, a custom mobile app can increase productivity, increase employee satisfaction/retention and save your business a lot of money.

Here are some of the reasons why and the things a custom mobile app can do for your business.

Custom Mobile Apps (CMAs) vs Off the Shelf Mobile Apps (OSMAs)

Some businesses think they can use OSMAs, which are pre-built apps that companies tie into their own systems. These can work, but they are not nearly as effective as a CMA. A CMA allows your business to create a customised solution with functions that are unique to your business needs.

OSMAs designed for business try to be everything to everybody. They have to provide a variety of functions. Unfortunately, a high percentage of those functions are irrelevant to most businesses. When you build a CMA, you can build it to do exactly what your employees and executives need it to do.

It will boot with your logo and access your database. It will help your employees perform tasks in accordance with the protocols your company already has in place. Instead of wasting space and productivity with useless functions and forcing your management and employees to fit what they are trying to do within the constraints of a generic “productivity” app, a custom mobile app lets your organisation or small company build your specific protocols within the app.

What Do End Users Think of CMAs?

Tech giant CDW surveyed 374 decision makers in small, medium and large businesses. They chose decision makers, most of whom had experience with both OSMAs and CMAs. 72% of those who responded said they intend to have more CMAs produced for their businesses, with 42% saying they planned to do so within the next year.

77% of the businesses polled said their employees use OSMAs at work. However, the average company uses six OSMAs and five CMAs. When asked about how CMAs benefitted their companies, 46% said they increase efficiency, while 41% said they increase productivity and 39% said they allow employees to work from remote locations.

36% of those polled use CMAs to improve communications. 35% use them for sales support, 34% use CMAs to allow access to data and 25% feel they are using them to create a competitive advantage.

Practical Results

One of the main benefits of CMAs is the opportunity to rework a company’s internal processes and workflows in a way that it can positively impact customer experience. This combines with the increase in efficiency to produce a higher return on investment (ROI).

A well-crafted custom mobile app not only simplifies operations, but the capability for instantaneous communication allows employees to perform on higher levels from different locations at the same time.

Building Your Perfect Custom Mobile App

The first step to building your company a perfect CMA is for you to communicate what you need your app to do and what data it needs to be able to store and transfer. Once we know that, we can help you build an app that does just what you need.

It is important that a CMA be extremely user-friendly. The goal isn’t to build the biggest app with the most buttons and bows; the goal is to build an app that allows your employees to perform the tasks they need to perform in the easiest, most efficient way possible, from any location.

Also, your app needs to be intuitive. Ideally, the learning curve is instantaneous; a new employee should be able to learn the app by performing each task once.
