Things did not go according to plan when Google released its new gmail app for iPhone, iPad & iPod touch users on Wednesday. Soon after the much anticipated release a deluge of complaints were lodged from the first batch of users to download the app. The app was quickly pulled back for repairs and Google was forced to make a red faced apology on Twitter and on its blog.
The exact problem was “a bug” with the notifications which simply did not work and the users were greeted with an error message. This is all very unusual for Apple who are renowned for stringent quality control measures, Google on the other hand are not always so squeeky clean. The app is due for release again in the very near future and the users who have already downloaded it can continue to use the “buggy” version.
