In the app creation and development field, research is crucial. If you want to be a mobile app developer, you are going to have to do your research—it’s as simple as that. If you don’t want to do your homework and take iOS or Android app development seriously, you are going to get eaten alive those who do.

We live and breathe apps at Smarter Apps. We spend a lot of our time keeping abreast of developments in the field. One of our favourite websites to visit is called Lifehacker Australia. The site is very entertaining and has a lot of useful information in many fields besides apps. One of their best features is called “Freebie Friday,” where they list their favourite free apps for the week. Here are a few of them.

Android Apps

Games: Polar, Galaxia Conquestum, The Wolf Among Us, The Elf Adventure, Space, Stick Hero and Assassin’s Creed.

Apps: MAPS.ME-Offline Maps & Routing, Noodles- To Do List.

iOS Apps

Games: Walking Dead: The Game, Tetris Blitz, Assassin’s Creed: Pirates, Mini Motor Racing, God of Light, Joe Dever’s Lone Wolf.

Apps: Coinverter, To Do List for Nozbe H.

Your Homework and Why it is So Important

Your homework is to go to Google Play or the Apple App store, whichever is appropriate. Then, find free apps that look good to you, download them and use them. If you like the idea of games, download games. If not, download free apps. Whatever your area of interest, you will be able to find apps.

When using the apps, ask what problems they solve. If they are games, notice what is being done, what the games are about and who they are targeting. What do you like about the characters? What made you choose one game over another?
