COSBOA: Small Businesses Using New Apps to Take Control and Increase Productivity

In a great post on the Australian Government’s business website, Peter Strong, Executive Director of the Council of Small Businesses of Australia (COSBOA), gave a small business owner’s perspective on the new small business apps recently released by business.gov.au. The article provided a great example of how small businesses can profit from the use of apps in their daily transactions.

According to the article, the suite of business planning apps “gives business owners the ability to develop a plan and take it anywhere.” It further states that the apps are very easy to use and the fact that they are instantly accessible to anyone with a smartphone is a boon to small business owners.

One main benefit of the app is that, once the business plan is written down in an easily accessible place, it is easier to share your plan with investors, bank managers, accountants, and fellow workers. For those of you who are familiar with entrepreneurial terms, these apps allow you to hold your “elevator pitch” right in your smartphone.

The apps help business owners update their operations by allowing them to take full advantage of the changes and advances in technology during the current era, but they are really just a starting point. Once you are aware of the apps, it is your responsibility to use them and to learn more about further advances, and to integrate them into your business.

So, what does this mean to you?  First of all, these apps are a great wake-up call if you aren’t yet aware of the world of possibilities that can be opened by business apps. They are easy to use and are a great entry point if you haven’t paid much attention to technology, but want to see what apps are all about. The apps can not only help you organise your businesses, but they are a great reminder that the parameters of doing business are a lot different than they were ten years ago.

Ten years ago, a lot of businesses ignored the Internet. Now, not only is it mandatory to have an online presence if you want to succeed, but it’s also mandatory to have an app if you don’t want to leave a pile of money lying on the table.

Call us today, and let’s get started on your own business app.
